GW Thurston Hall
The renovation at Thurston Hall, the largest first-year residence hall at The George Washington University, is designed to bring students together in residential, social, and academic settings.
In collaboration with VMDO of Charlottesville, SMBW provided interior design services for this Living Learning Community.
The renovation is designed around a community-centric courtyard, offering views and daylighting through the building. Thurston Hall is a doorway to D.C, and the GW Student Experience for first-year students, providing opportunities to connect students to each other, to their studies, and to GW’s vibrant urban and academic campus.
Project designed in conjunction with VMDO Architects.
