City Campus is a 35,500 square foot biotechnology complex located near the City Center of Charlottesville. It will serve as the headquarters location for Indoor Bio-technologies, Inc, a national firm for research and testing of indoor allergens. The facility accommodates 15,000 square feet of BSL-2 wet labs and 13,000 square feet of research office. The design solution includes the reuse of a 1939 Coca Cola bottling plant and related dependencies, combined together into a single complex. Restoration of the buildings allow for the use of State and Federal historic tax credits to leverage the funding for the project.
