Virginia Humanities’ new office and broadcasting studio helps all Virginians tell their stories. The warm inviting interior has been designed to foster collaboration, make community connections, and celebrate the regions of Virginia. The project brings their workforce under one roof to increase efficiency and provide a comfortable space for teamwork.
SMBW worked with this Charlottesvile nonprofit on an iterative approach to visioning their environment, change management for a group shifting to an open plan, and worked to gain community approval and consensus on the project.
Community gathering space is at the heart of this office space, flanked by an open work plan broken up with flexible furnishings, event space, and display cases for arts, books, and artifacts that speak to the VA Humanities story and mission.
