COMMITTMENT TO CURIOSITY

A visual learner and determined designer, Emma’s affinity for design began as a creative outlet while she pursued a degree in neuroscience. Studying the human condition led her to develop a curiosity about how the surroundings can change those complicated chemical pathways and behavior. Emma is driven by a desire to hone her skills and produce quality work.

Why smbw?

What initially attracted Emma to smbw as the impact that the firm has on the city of Richmond, and her interest in the firm was cemented upon her visit to Belvedere Gardens. Walking through the entrance of the Gardens, Emma was greeted by the warm colored stones, mountain views, sound of water, and light peeking through in beautiful ways. It gave her a new appreciation for what Architecture can be.

Career Origins

Pursuing design as a career wasn’t always a clear path for Emma. Her affinity for design began as a creative outlet while pursuing a degree in neuroscience. While studying the human condition Emma become increasingly curious about how space and surroundings can change those complicated chemical pathways and behavior.
